At its best, worship is posturing our heart and life toward sacrifice through giving, serving, and glorifying God through word and deed. Our prayer is to be believers who don’t just worship one hour a week, but with every aspect of our lives.

So much of a lack of submission to the Lord comes from an idolatry of something else. This week, we’ll walk through the need to examine the idols we are exposed to so we make sure our focus is on the right thing.

Lying is the weapon of the enemy, deceiving us into choosing sin and distancing ourselves from God. In Psalm 19, David reflects on the truth of God’s Word and how meditating on it equips us to fight the lies and embrace the full life that God offers.

The heart of prayer is to seek God, to welcome Him into every circumstance and situation. In Psalm 34, David expresses how prayer takes control out of his hands and places it into God’s hands, pushing those who pray into deeper dependence on Him.

In Psalm 32, David feels the weight of his sin growing and only experiences relief by doing the one thing sin desperately wishes we wouldn’t: confess. In revealing what was hidden, David finds that God is his ultimate hiding place.

Every day we are given an opportunity to live distracted or devoted to the cause of Christ. We want to commit to keeping our focus on getting the message of Jesus to the ends of the earth and letting that focus put everything else in perspective.

Acts 12 begins with God’s people surrounded by hardship, but it concludes with the Word of God continuing to spread and flourish. Make no mistake about it, when the Church calls for help, God hears and delivers.

Despite fear and having never been to a Gentile’s house, Peter obeyed God and visited the home of a Roman army officer. Embracing the mess meant moving beyond what was easy, known, and comfortable—and the result was a powerful spiritual experience.

Led by the Spirit to a man interested in God, Philip identified and removed the obstacles standing between the man and faith, using the limited resources available to him—his presence, his hope in Jesus, and his unique surroundings.

As a church, we are committed to watching for the opportunities before us through prayer, teaching, and sacrifice, and by trusting God to give us a deeper vision and purpose in every aspect of our lives.

We cannot be who God has called us to be without His Spirit that directs, shapes, and moves us. The key to expanding the hope of Christ to the ends of the earth is to live in the power of the Spirit. Only then can we begin to Wreck the Roof.

Simplicity is an exercise in trust, forcing us to adopt a faith-filled, eternal view on our resources. As we trust more deeply in God’s promises for eternity, our lives and hearts become less cluttered with stuff and more Christ-like in simplicity.

Our natural tendency is to allow our schedule to be commandeered by the seemingly urgent matters that have captivated us. However, we want to be people who order our lives, and specifically our schedules, around the only One who is really needed.

Everyone builds their life upon something or someone. It’s a simple reality, but it has eternal ramifications. The foundation we build our lives upon determines the stability and destination of our souls.

Jesus promises a life to the full—and it isn’t simply a promise outside of the disappointment of life; it’s a promise within it. Completely present in whatever we may face, He is and always will be the one who ultimately satisfies.

The hope of Christmas is, despite all odds, God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus. His Word throughout the Bible is a weaving of grace upon grace that leads us to Jesus, who leads us into a living hope regardless of what we face.

In a world full of inconsistency and uncertainty, the Christmas season reminds us that God is full of faithfulness. When everything around us seems unknown and unexpected, He is the One in whom we can trust, and the One worth testifying about.

The light of Jesus transforms the world, making all things bright and beautiful, all things new and wonderful. We are reminded in the Christmas season to live as witnesses to the light—showing the world the transforming power and beauty of Jesus.

The book of John begins with a bold promise: God has always been moving and nothing He does can be stopped. Everything He did and is doing is with purpose, and Jesus’ life reveals to us that we were also made on purpose, and with purpose.

Paul claims to know the “secret” to contentment in all circumstances. Through his experiences, both good and bad, he’s realized, and he reveals to us, the key to contentment: knowing Jesus and being filled with His power and presence.
